Maharashtra Elections 2024: Prakash Ambedkar's VBA Unveils 10 Muslim Candidates

In Maharashtra, the Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA), led by Prakash Ambedkar, has announced a second list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for November 2024. This list features 10 Muslim candidates, all of whom recently transitioned from the Congress party due to dissatisfaction with its approach towards Hindu nationalism. The leaders expressed a strong desire for equal representation of Muslims in the political landscape, emphasizing that there should be no compromises on this front. The announcement follows a previous list released by VBA, which included 11 candidates. The shift of these Muslim leaders from Congress to VBA highlights a significant political realignment in Maharashtra, reflecting broader discontent within the Congress party regarding its stance on communal issues. Khatib Syed Natiquddin, one of the leaders who joined VBA, articulated the need for a more inclusive political environment for Muslims.
