Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on the Vanderbilt University campus on Saturday afternoon, leaving one person injured. The Metro Nashville Police reported that the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. following a dispute among members of a construction crew working at Sutherland House, an unoccupied residence hall at the time. The suspects, identified as 38-year-old Luis Enrique Ramirez Sandoval and 27-year-old Jose Humberto, were apprehended by Vanderbilt officers at a nearby market shortly after the shooting. In response to the incident, campus police issued a campus-wide alert advising individuals to avoid the area. Three people were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, including a 19-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. Vanderbilt University officials confirmed they are cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation unfolds, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to the campus community. According to police, a firearm was recovered from Sandoval, who has been charged with aggravated assault. Humberto faces charges of facilitation of aggravated assault for allegedly retrieving the gun for Sandoval before the shooting.
