In a disturbing incident captured on surveillance footage, a 60-year-old convicted child sex offender, Kevin Scott Hurley, was arrested for allegedly stalking a 10-year-old girl and her mother inside a Home Depot in Southwest Miami-Dade on July 4. Hurley, who was on probation after serving time for a previous child molestation conviction, reportedly made several attempts to engage the girl while she was shopping with her mother. The footage shows Hurley complimenting the girl on her Disney souvenir, saying, “I love your Mickey ears,” and later telling her, “I think you are so beautiful.” The girl, feeling uncomfortable, removed her Mickey Mouse ears. Despite the mother’s concerns, Hurley continued to pace around the store, keeping a watchful eye on the child, prompting the mother to seek assistance from a store employee to safely exit the store. After leaving, the mother noticed Hurley waiting in his car and subsequently following them as they walked through the parking lot. Fearing for their safety, she walked to the edge of the lot, where she spotted Hurley loitering at a stop sign, staring at them. A good Samaritan intervened, prompting Hurley to flee the scene. He was later apprehended and is currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, facing charges of aggravated stalking of a minor while wearing an ankle monitor.
