A recent Rasmussen Reports survey reveals that a significant majority of Americans, 58 percent, oppose sex-change drugs and surgeries for minors. Among this group, 47 percent express strong opposition to such measures. In contrast, only 30 percent support these procedures for youth, while 12 percent remain undecided. The survey highlights a stark political divide, with 47 percent of Democrats in favor compared to just 13 percent of Republicans and 27 percent of unaffiliated voters. The survey also addresses parental involvement in discussions about sexual and gender identities in schools. Nearly half of Americans, 47 percent, oppose schools and teachers counseling students on these topics without parental consent. Only 23 percent believe that educators should have the authority to engage with students on transgender issues without informing parents, while 30 percent are uncertain. This sentiment is echoed across political lines, with 59 percent of Republican voters, 40 percent of Democrats, and 42 percent of unaffiliated voters opposing such practices. Concerns about school accommodations for transgender students are also prevalent, with 39 percent of Americans stating that schools "do too much" to support these students. Conversely, 24 percent feel that schools do not provide enough support, while 21 percent believe the current level of accommodation is appropriate. The survey indicates that opinions vary significantly by political affiliation regarding the adequacy of school support for transgender students. Conducted with 1,237 American adults from August 7-11, the survey has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points and a 95 percent confidence level, reflecting a broad spectrum of public opinion on these contentious issues.
