Story

Swindon Borough Council, in collaboration with Wiltshire Council and iChoosr, has announced an extension to the registration deadline for the Solar Together scheme, now set for 13 September. This initiative aims to provide residents with affordable solar panel installations through a group buying approach, which has already attracted over 3,700 participants. The Solar Together scheme offers a range of options, including rooftop solar panels, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging points. Council representative Mr. Muns emphasized that there is no obligation for participants to accept the offers made after the registration period, encouraging more residents to consider the benefits of solar energy. He described the initiative as a "real gamechanger" for solar technology in Wiltshire, highlighting its potential to simplify the installation process while reducing costs. This marks the third iteration of the Solar Together scheme, which has previously resulted in 1,110 installations, contributing over 10,660 solar panels and more than £11 million in investments from local residents into the green economy. The program is open to homeowners and tenants with landlord permission, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises and commonhold associations that meet the eligibility criteria. Residents interested in participating in the scheme are encouraged to register before the deadline to take advantage of this opportunity for sustainable energy solutions.
