Early Friday morning, firefighters from the Poudre Fire Authority responded to a house fire in Fort Collins, where they discovered a deceased individual inside the burning structure. The emergency call came in at 5:45 a.m. for a fire located in the 4200 block of Gemstone Lane, prompting crews to quickly mobilize to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant smoke and flames emanating from the west and south sides of a two-story, multi-unit manufactured home. They initiated an exterior attack on the fire before a specialized team, equipped with full bunker gear and breathing apparatus, conducted a search of the interior. It was during this search that they found the body of the deceased. Fire Chief Derek Bergsten expressed condolences, stating, "A tragedy like this is often felt throughout the community."
