Story

Chandigarh: The Punjab police announced the arrest of Mukul Mishra, a suspect linked to the murder of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga. The incident occurred on April 13 when Bagga was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at his shop in Nangal. The police reported that one assailant wore a helmet while the other had his face covered, and they fled the scene on a black scooter. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the case is under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This arrest follows the earlier apprehension of the two shooters, Mandeep Kumar and Surinder Kumar, who were caught with the firearms used in the crime. The police have been conducting extensive investigations, including tracking financial transactions and gathering intelligence, which led to the recent operation across Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir. Mukul Mishra, a resident of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, is believed to have facilitated the payment for the weapons used in Bagga's murder through his bank account. The police have also identified two additional suspects from Uttar Pradesh, including the individual responsible for procuring the firearms. Furthermore, DGP Yadav revealed that Mishra is wanted in another case related to theft and arms violations, highlighting the ongoing efforts to dismantle the network behind the murder.
