LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Minnesota Lynx delivered a stunning performance against the Las Vegas Aces, securing a 98-87 victory on Wednesday night. Napheesa Collier led the charge with 23 points, while Courtney Williams contributed a season-high 22 points, along with 10 assists and seven rebounds. This win marks the second time this season that the Lynx have bested the two-time defending champions, having previously defeated them 100-86 in June. The Lynx showcased their offensive prowess, shooting an impressive 59.4% from the field. Despite a late surge from the Aces, who narrowed a 15-point deficit to 93-85 with just over a minute remaining, Williams sealed the game with a crucial three-pointer. Minnesota's balanced scoring was evident, with five starters reaching double figures, including Bridget Carleton (12 points), Kayla McBride (11), and Alanna Smith (10). Myisha Hines-Allen, recently acquired in a trade, added eight points off the bench. For the Aces, Jackie Young led the scoring with 26 points, including six three-pointers, while Kelsey Plum added 20 points. A’ja Wilson, who had been on a streak of 20-point, 10-rebound games, finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. The first quarter saw both teams combine for 20 assists, with the Lynx taking a narrow 26-25 lead. Minnesota maintained their momentum, finishing the half with a 54-46 advantage and entering the fourth quarter ahead 79-67. The two teams are set to face off again in Minnesota on Friday, where the Aces previously claimed an 80-66 victory in May.
