Thomas Mazza drives wrong way on I-25, causing multiple crashes

In Colorado on a Monday afternoon, a man named Thomas Mazza was involved in a dangerous incident where he drove the wrong way on Interstate 25. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop Mazza for a traffic violation in South Loveland, but he eluded the deputies and proceeded to drive south in the northbound lanes of the highway. As a result of his reckless driving, several other vehicles crashed while trying to avoid him, including a motorcycle that led to injuries of the rider. Authorities apprehended Mazza using a PIT maneuver, bringing the dangerous chase to an end. Upon his arrest, deputies released his adult female passenger unharmed. Following the incident, Mazza was charged with multiple offenses, such as vehicular eluding, driving under the influence, and five counts of attempted criminally negligent homicide, among others. The family of one victim, Roderick Dor, who had emigrated from Haiti, has expressed their grief as they prepare for his funeral. Dor's sister shared that he had come to the U.S. with no intention of staying permanently and was in the process of planning to return. The tragic accident occurred when Dor’s van collided with a semi-truck driven by Harjinder Singh, who allegedly made an illegal U-turn. The accident drew significant media coverage and caused a public response from Florida officials, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. The consulate has been mobilized to assist Dor's family in bringing his young daughters from Haiti for the funeral, as arrangements were complicated by diplomatic issues. The family wishes to ensure the daughters can pay their last respects to their father but faces hurdles in obtaining travel visas.
