The state ranked first in both education and health categories, boasting the highest percentage of insured residents at 97.3%. Additionally, Massachusetts has the lowest premature death rate in the nation and a significantly lower proportion of adults in fair or poor health compared to other states. The state's educational achievements are notable, with a high school graduation rate exceeding 90% and a median household income of over $94,000, placing it third in the country. However, despite these accolades, Massachusetts faces challenges in affordability, ranking 44th out of 50 states in this regard. A report from Bankrate highlighted that prospective homebuyers in Massachusetts need an annual income exceeding $162,000 to afford housing, raising concerns about the state's cost of living. The financial strain is prompting some residents to consider leaving the state, with a recent poll indicating that one in five individuals sees themselves moving away within the next five years.
