Los Angeles Clippers chairman Steve Ballmer is set to host a lavish celebration for the opening of the team's new home, the Intuit Dome, in Inglewood, California. The event, scheduled for Thursday, will feature a lineup of celebrities, including pop star Meghan Trainor, actress Sophia Bush, and comedian Chelsea Handler, who will gather to mark the debut of the innovative sports and concert venue. The Intuit Dome is located just south of the renowned SoFi Stadium and will host its first-ever red carpet event, attracting notable figures from the entertainment, sports, and arts communities. The highlight of the evening will be a performance by Grammy-winning artist Bruno Mars, who will officially inaugurate the stage. Mars, who has not performed in Los Angeles since 2018, is expected to deliver an engaging show that showcases the venue's unique features, including a halo scoreboard and interactive LED lights integrated into the seating. Clippers president of business operations, Gillian Zucker, emphasized the importance of selecting a performer who could fully utilize the arena's innovative design. Construction on the Intuit Dome began in September 2021, and Ballmer has expressed his excitement about various aspects of the facility, particularly its ample restroom facilities. In a lighthearted social media video, he highlighted the venue's 1,160 toilets and urinals, which he noted is three times the NBA average, underscoring the Clippers' commitment to enhancing the fan experience by minimizing wait times.
