Barcelona defender Julian Araujo is on the verge of joining AFC Bournemouth in a deal reportedly worth €10 million (£8.4 million). The Premier League club has reached an agreement with their La Liga counterparts, and the 22-year-old right-back is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Sunday. Following the medical, Araujo is expected to finalize a five-year contract with Bournemouth. Araujo, a Mexico international born in the United States, began his football journey in Barcelona’s U.S. academy before moving to LA Galaxy in 2018. He made a significant step in his career by joining Barcelona in the summer of 2023. During the 2023-24 season, he was loaned to Las Palmas, where he made 28 appearances, showcasing his potential in Spain's top flight. The young defender has also made strides on the international stage, earning his senior debut for Mexico in 2021. Since then, he has accumulated 13 caps for the national team, although he was sidelined from the 2024 Copa America due to a hamstring injury. As Bournemouth prepares for their Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on August 17, Araujo's addition could bolster their defensive lineup as they aim for a strong start to the season.
