Chandrababu Naidu escapes train near miss during flood inspection in Vijayawada

On September 3, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was inspecting flood-affected areas in Vijayawada when he experienced a close call with a speeding passenger train. Naidu was evaluating the damage on a narrow bridge alongside his security personnel and officials when the train passed just inches away from them. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this alarming incident, which was captured on video and has since gone viral, showcasing the precarious situation he was in. The flood situation in Andhra Pradesh has deteriorated significantly due to heavy rainfall, leading to the tragic loss of at least 32 lives. The NTR district, which includes Vijayawada, has been particularly impacted, with 24 fatalities reported. Other affected regions include Guntur and Palnadu, where additional deaths have been recorded. Thousands of residents from low-lying areas have been displaced, and over 40,000 individuals have been relocated to relief camps as water levels continue to rise. Farmers have also faced severe challenges, with more than 2.35 lakh farmers reporting extensive crop damage due to the relentless rains. The Andhra Pradesh government is actively monitoring the situation and providing assistance to those affected by the floods. In response to the crisis, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has pledged Rs 5 crore for flood relief efforts, ensuring that funds are allocated directly to the panchayats for immediate recovery. As the state grapples with the aftermath of the floods, the government remains committed to supporting recovery efforts and addressing the needs of the displaced population.
