American golfer Rose Zhang delivered an impressive performance on the third day of the Olympic tournament at Le Golf National, nearly achieving the shot of the day on the 18th hole. Zhang eagled the hole, finishing with a score of 5-under 67, bringing her total to 7-under for the tournament. She is currently tied for third place with Japan’s Miyu Yamashita, just two strokes behind leaders Morgane Metraux of Switzerland and Lydia Ko of New Zealand, who both sit at 9-under. Metraux made a significant move on the leaderboard with a remarkable hybrid shot from 199 yards on the 18th, landing it 19 feet from the hole before making an eagle. Meanwhile, Ko's solid performance, shooting a 4-under 68, allowed her to climb from third place into a tie with Metraux. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, however, struggled to maintain her momentum, shooting a 2-under 70 for the second consecutive day, placing her at 4-under and tied for seventh. Korda's chances of defending her gold medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics hinge on a strong performance in the final round. Notably, Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe is also in contention, currently at 5-under and in sixth place, aiming for a memorable finish to her career. The top ten leaderboard after the third round includes Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand at -6 and Xiyu Lin of China at -4.
