Hostages Troufanov and Cohen celebrate engagement after their release

In Israel, Sasha Troufanov and Sapir Cohen, both former hostages, recently announced their engagement after being captured on October 7 by terrorists. Troufanov was held for 498 days by Palestinian Islamic Jihad before his release in January 2025. Meanwhile, Yelena Troufanov, Sasha's mother, has been actively supporting those affected by the conflict, providing essential supplies to evacuees and emphasizing the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. She believes that her ability to help others is a reflection of hope for the future, stating that 'if I made it through everything I’ve faced and can now help others, then I believe anything is possible.' The couple has not yet announced a wedding date.
