In the United Kingdom, Wetherspoon has announced a significant price reduction on Guinness for St Patrick’s Day, offering pints at £3.15 instead of the usual £3.60. This promotion will take place across more than 670 branches in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The price cut represents a 12.5% savings for customers and coincides with the chain's Monday Club promotion, which features discounts on a variety of draught beers and spirits. Customers can look forward to enjoying drinks at lower prices, including pints of Ruddles or Worthington’s at £1.49 and Carling at £2.49. The special promotion aims to attract patrons celebrating the Irish holiday, making it an ideal opportunity for social gatherings and festivities at the pubs. The unprecedented price reduction also comes on the heels of Wetherspoon's plan to revamp its menu by discontinuing steak, mixed grills, and gammon dishes effective May 14, to introduce a series of Gourmet Burgers, including options like The Big Smoke, Buffalo Burger, and Cheese Meltdown. The company is also adding Korean-style chicken meals to diversify its offerings. A spokesperson stated that the company remains confident in providing a wide range of menu choices and value for money. In conjunction with these changes, Wetherspoon anticipates reporting a significant surge in food and drink sales, forecasting nearly a five percent increase for the six months leading up to January 26, compared to the same period the previous year. This positive outlook reflects the company’s strong performance and strategic marketing efforts, particularly related to its high-margin slot and fruit machines, expected to contribute an additional 11% to sales and bolster overall profits.
