Muslim Woman Alleges Abuse for Praising PM Modi in Ayodhya

A Muslim woman from Ayodhya, identified as Mariyam, has reported severe domestic abuse from her husband, Arshad, following her public praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In a distressing video appeal, Mariyam recounts her ordeal, stating that her admiration for the development in Ayodhya, particularly the transformation of Lata Chowk, led to violent repercussions from her husband. Mariyam claims that her husband reacted violently to her comments, initially beating her and sending her back to her parental home. Although she was later allowed to return, the situation deteriorated further. She alleges that Arshad, supported by his family, subjected her to repeated assaults, including a horrific incident where he poured hot lentils on her face, resulting in severe burns. The culmination of the abuse occurred when Arshad burned her face and subsequently divorced her through the practice of triple talaq. Despite the gravity of her situation and the public attention her video has garnered, Mariyam asserts that her attempts to file a First Information Report (FIR) have been unsuccessful. This lack of legal recourse has prompted her to directly appeal to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for intervention and justice in her case, highlighting the urgent need for support for victims of domestic violence.
