Story

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks experienced a notably intense practice session on Wednesday, marked by multiple skirmishes among players, including a significant altercation between wide receiver DK Metcalf and cornerback Tre Brown. The confrontation escalated during a live broadcast on NFL Network, where Metcalf, initially attempting to de-escalate the situation, ultimately removed Brown's helmet and swung it, inadvertently hitting teammate K’Von Wallace, who was trying to intervene. Head coach Mike Macdonald addressed the tensions during the NFL Network segment, emphasizing the importance of maintaining camaraderie among teammates. “We’re right on the line right now and I think the guys realize that,” he stated, urging players to avoid fighting, especially against one another. The practice saw additional clashes, including a confrontation between Brown and wide receiver Jake Bobo, as well as a scuffle involving guard Christian Haynes and defensive end Derrick Hall. The heightened emotions come just days before the Seahawks' preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, with Macdonald suggesting that the players are eager to face an opponent rather than each other. Following the incident between Metcalf and Brown, Macdonald gathered the team to address the situation. Although he did not speak to local media afterward, he noted that Metcalf delivered a thoughtful message to the team at the end of practice, aiming to restore focus and perspective.
