Young contestants face cultural challenges in Race Across the World

In October 2024, two young contestants from Wales, Fin Gough and Sioned Cray, participated in the BBC One reality series Race Across the World. The show aired the fifth series, where teams traveled over 8,700 miles from the Great Wall of China, through Nepal and India, while avoiding flights and smartphones. This particular race provided a challenging environment that pushed the participants out of their comfort zones, creating a unique experience for Gough and Cray, who had only traveled as far as Tenerife together. The siblings entered the contest to strengthen their bond and test their relationship away from home. Both contestants expressed that the show was a culture shock, especially since they had never been outside Europe together before.
