Thugs jailed for Southport riot

A man has been sentenced to over two years in prison for his involvement in a violent riot in Southport, where he was filmed throwing missiles at police officers. Philip Prescott, 38, of Sefton Street, was convicted of violent disorder following the incident that occurred on July 30. On August 13, he received a sentence of two years and four months for his actions during the chaos. In addition to Prescott, another participant in the Southport riot, Gareth Metcalfe, 44, was also sentenced for his role in the violent events. Metcalfe received a more severe sentence of three years and four months after pleading guilty to the same charge of violent disorder. Furthermore, David Frank Hill, 38, from Bootle, was sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in a separate violent disorder incident in Liverpool on August 3.
