In the United States, a 14-year-old girl from Tennessee was reported missing after meeting a 28-year-old man named Alexander Materne online through a gaming platform. On December 23, 2024, Materne traveled to Tennessee to pick her up from her home. After arriving at his residence in St. Rose, Louisiana, the two engaged in sexual activity. Following this, the girl informed Materne of her age, which prompted him to leave her in a remote wooded area in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, equipped only with a tent, food, and water before he celebrated Christmas with his family. The girl was abandoned in the woods for about two days, during which time her parents began investigating her whereabouts and were able to track Materne to Jennings, Louisiana, approximately 160 miles from his home. They reported their findings to local authorities, leading to Materne's interview by police, wherein he showed them the location where the girl had been left. This discovery concluded with the girl being safe and later reunited with her family after a hospital check-up. Materne was arrested and is now facing serious charges including aggravated kidnapping of a child and multiple felony counts of human trafficking and carnal knowledge, reflecting the severe nature of his actions.
