Story

Post-punk band Idles has announced a benefit concert scheduled for Saturday, August 24, at the O2 Academy in Bristol, aimed at raising funds for War Child UK, a charity dedicated to supporting children affected by conflict. The event will feature performances from indie rock band 86TVs, Zlizo, and a DJ set by Bristol's own BOCA 45. The concert is organized in collaboration with Crosstown Concerts and Friendly Records. Lead singer Joe Talbot expressed the band's commitment to the cause, stating, “We are playing a show for War Child. This is our privilege. Please spend your money on the most innocent victims of these unforgivable crimes.” The evening will be hosted by renowned comedian Stewart Lee, adding a touch of humor to the important cause. Rich Clarke, Head of War Child Records, emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that the funds raised will be directed towards immediate support for vulnerable children in conflict zones. He highlighted the charity's mission to provide life-changing services that ensure children's safety and facilitate their healing and learning processes. Clarke further warned that the ongoing conflicts have long-lasting effects on entire generations, making it crucial to assist those most at risk. The concert not only aims to entertain but also to mobilize community support for a pressing humanitarian issue.
