A delegation from Jersey, including St Helier South Deputy David Warr, recently visited Guernsey's La Valette bathing pools to gather insights for enhancing the Havre des Pas bathing pool in Jersey. The La Valette facility underwent significant refurbishment in 2022, funded by a charitable trust supported by the States of Guernsey. The project has been recognized with an architectural award since its reopening, showcasing the potential for similar improvements in Jersey. Deputy Warr expressed optimism about revitalizing the Havre des Pas pool, which shares a historical context with La Valette. He emphasized the community's desire for an upgraded facility, stating, "Certainly the energy is here to do something." He described La Valette as an "extraordinary facility" and highlighted the importance of community involvement in the development process. Recent reports indicate that the Havre des Pas site has received substantial investment, with £356,000 allocated for maintenance out of a total of £553,051 spent on government-owned café sites over the past three-and-a-half years.
