The Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF) began in 2006 at the Diggi Hotel, attracting only a few attendees initially, primarily tourists. However, the festival gained momentum in its second year, featuring prominent authors like Gulzar and Shashi Tharoor, which drew larger crowds. The organizers adapted to the audience's preferences by keeping sessions concise, allowing attendees to engage without losing interest. This successful formula inspired numerous literary festivals across India, although many lacked the original's charm. Over time, JLF expanded internationally, establishing events in countries like Britain, Australia, and the US.
