Hollywood Restaurant Targeted Again by Molotov Cocktail Attack
- A Hollywood Beach restaurant has been targeted by an arsonist for the second time.
- The restaurant manager believes the same man is responsible for both attacks.
- Authorities are investigating the incidents to catch the culprit.
Hollywood Beach's Broadwalk Restaurant has been targeted for the second time in less than two months by a man throwing a Molotov cocktail. Surveillance footage captured the incident early Tuesday morning, showing a suspect in a red car launching the incendiary device at the back of the establishment located at 1400 N Surf Road. Fortunately, the damage was limited, but restaurant manager Denis Almeida expressed disbelief that the attack occurred again, noting similarities to a previous incident on June 24. In the earlier attack, also involving a man in a red car, the suspect was seen throwing a Molotov cocktail before fleeing the scene. Almeida stated that the restaurant has no known conflicts with neighbors or former employees, leaving him puzzled about the motive behind the attacks. He emphasized the restaurant's long-standing presence in the community, having operated for 22 years without experiencing such violence. In a related incident, a Molotov cocktail was thrown over a wall on Johnson Street just days before the June attack. Homeowner Michael Hoffman, who captured the event on his Ring camera, reported hearing glass shatter but was relieved that the damage was minimal. Both Almeida and Hoffman expressed their concerns about the safety of the community, with Almeida stating, "We do not recognize this person," and hoping for an end to such incidents. Hollywood police responded to the latest attack at 4:50 AM but have not confirmed whether the same individual is responsible for both incidents. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the suspect's identification.
