Mumbai Airport's Passenger Traffic Hits 26.68 Million in H1 FY25

In the first half of fiscal year 2025, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport experienced a notable increase in passenger traffic. Between April and September 2024, the airport recorded a total of 26.68 million passengers, marking a 5.3% rise compared to the same period last year. This growth was primarily driven by a substantial 11% increase in international travel and a more modest 3% growth in domestic passenger traffic. The airport, functioning with one main runway and two crossing runways, facilitated 163,973 air traffic movements during this timeframe, representing a 3% increase year-on-year. Among the busiest domestic routes included flights to Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, while significant international destinations included Dubai, Singapore, and London, which attracted a combined total of 2.2 million travellers. On September 28, the facility achieved its highest daily passenger traffic for the ongoing fiscal year, processing 164,617 passengers in one day. This surge illustrates the airport's capability to handle growing demands effectively, an essential aspect as international travel continues to recover post-pandemic. As the second busiest airport in India, Mumbai Airport plays a crucial role in facilitating both domestic and international travel, highlighting the increasing reliance on air transport as travel patterns shift.
