Odisha Offers One Day Menstruation Leave for Women

Bhubaneshwar: On August 15, Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced a new one-day menstrual leave policy for women across all professions during an Independence Day event in Cuttack. This initiative allows eligible women employees to take leave on the first or second day of their menstrual cycle, marking a significant step towards addressing women's health issues in the workplace. The introduction of this policy comes in the wake of a Supreme Court directive on July 8, urging the central government to consider a paid menstrual leave policy after consultations with relevant stakeholders.
