In a significant drug bust on Thursday, police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, intercepted an ambulance transporting a large consignment of Ganja from Odisha. Acting on a tip-off received on Wednesday, law enforcement set up a check post approximately 40 km from the district headquarters in Bherughat. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered 138 kgs of Ganja concealed in various boxes in the rear compartment of the ambulance. The two arrested individuals, Kiran Hantal and Balram Ganapatra, both from Koraput district in Odisha, were reportedly planning to distribute the drugs in Indore and surrounding areas. The police confirmed that the seized drugs could potentially fetch over Rs 40 lakh in the black market, highlighting the scale of the operation. The ambulance, registered in Andhra Pradesh, was being used for smuggling purposes, raising concerns about the use of legitimate vehicles for illegal activities. Authorities are now taking further action against the suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with ongoing interrogations to uncover more details about their operations. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug trafficking across state borders in India. The police's proactive measures in this case reflect their commitment to tackling the drug menace and ensuring public safety.
