Lt. Gov. Austin Davis visits McKeesport for Main Street Matters initiative

Sherry Toth, a long-time employee at Minerva Bakery, highlighted the challenges faced by local businesses, noting that many people are unaware of their presence due to the lack of a vibrant downtown. The bakery, which has been a staple for over a century, symbolizes the rich history of the area but also the need for revitalization. Toth expressed the necessity for initiatives that attract visitors and encourage them to engage with local businesses. Davis pointed out that for every dollar invested in Main Street, there is an estimated $8 return, underscoring the economic potential of revitalizing these areas. The initiative aims to create a more inviting atmosphere that encourages community engagement and supports local economies.
