Naxalite Woman Arrested with ₹14 Lakh Bounty in Madhya Pradesh

A woman named Sajanti, aged 32, was apprehended by the Special Operation Group of the Madhya Pradesh police in the Parsatola Chichrangpur forest area of Balaghat district. The arrest occurred following a tip-off and an encounter in which another Naxalite managed to escape. Sajanti, originally from Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, has been associated with the Khatia Mochi area committee of the banned Naxalite outfit since 2011. Her criminal activities span across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh, where she has been involved in multiple violent incidents. Sajanti carried a total bounty of Rs 14 lakh, which included Rs 3 lakh from Madhya Pradesh, Rs 5 lakh from Chhattisgarh, and Rs 6 lakh from Maharashtra. The police were returning with her when a group of Naxalites attempted to rescue her by firing 30 to 40 rounds at the police team. However, the police retaliated, causing the attackers to flee into the darkness. Following the incident, the Hawk Force and the Central Reserve Police Force's COBRA teams initiated a search operation to locate the fleeing Naxalites. Sajanti's arrest is significant as it highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat Naxalite activities in the region, which have been a persistent issue for years.
