Linda Thompson, Elvis Presley’s former girlfriend, has made a poignant return to Graceland as part of the annual Elvis Week celebrations. Thompson, who was in a relationship with the iconic singer from 1972 to 1976, shared her emotional journey back to the mansion through a series of heartfelt Instagram posts. She reminisced about her time living at Graceland, stating, “Back in my former home, Graceland, to share memories of the king of rock and roll and many hearts... including mine.” In her posts, Thompson highlighted her personal contributions to the estate, including the stained glass peacocks she designed, which separate the living room from the music room. She expressed how her four and a half years with Elvis profoundly shaped her identity, stating that the memories from that time are “deeply carved” into her being. The stained glass work, completed by Laukhuff Stained Glass Company, was a significant addition to the iconic property. Thompson’s relationship with Presley ended in December 1976, a decision she attributed to the emotional toll of caring for him as his health declined. She candidly shared her struggles with his drug addiction and the impact it had on their relationship, revealing that she often felt lost while trying to support him.
