Drone attack halts UN food delivery to starving population in Sudan

In recent weeks, a significant escalation of violence has occurred in Sudan, particularly impacting the already vulnerable regions and populations due to ongoing conflicts that erupted in April 2023. A drone attack specifically targeted a United Nations convoy in North Darfur, setting ablaze all 16 trucks that were carrying vital food supplies intended for areas suffering from famine. Despite the destruction of the vehicles, all personnel and drivers associated with the convoy were reported safe, which marks a slight relief amidst the chaos surrounding humanitarian efforts in the area. Reports indicate that as many as 40,000 individuals may have lost their lives while nearly 13 million people have been forcibly displaced.
