Police constable fatally struck by train in Shahjahanpur, UP

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, when a police constable named Akshayveer was fatally struck by a speeding train at the Indira Nagar railway crossing. Reports indicate that he was out for a walk while wearing earphones, which likely prevented him from hearing the approaching train. CCTV footage revealed that the railway gate was closed as he and two others attempted to cross the tracks, with Akshayveer leading the group. He stepped onto the tracks unaware of the imminent danger. Despite the quick response from a nearby individual who managed to pull one of the other individuals to safety, Akshayveer was hit by the train. The injuries he sustained were severe, including the amputation of one leg, and he succumbed to excessive blood loss while receiving treatment at the Government Medical College. He was 34 years old and had been serving in the Shahjahanpur Police Line since 2019. Originally from Dagrol village in Shamli, Akshayveer was living in a rented home in the Sadar Bazar area. Following the accident, police officers rushed him to the hospital, but he passed away late Wednesday night despite their efforts. His death has left a significant impact on the local community and the police force. The next morning, Akshayveer was honored with a final farewell that included full state honors. Senior police officials, including SP Ashok Kumar and others, attended the ceremony, showing their respect for the fallen constable and acknowledging his service to the community.
