First Nordic Metals advances exploration at Storjuktan in Sweden
- First Nordic Metals has commenced a UAV magnetic geophysical survey over the 25,000 hectares of the Storjuktan Project, with 35% completed as of September 9, 2024.
- The company has also collected approximately 6,500 B-Horizon glacial till samples, representing 30% of the planned coverage area for 2024.
- These exploration efforts indicate a strong potential for discovering additional mineralization targets at Storjuktan.
First Nordic Metals Corp. has provided an exploration update on its 100%-owned Storjuktan project located in northern Sweden, approximately 30 kilometers north of its flagship Barsele project. The company has identified a highly prospective target, the 5.5 km Nippas target, while noting that 90% of the project area remains unexplored in terms of significant geochemical and geophysical work. This indicates a strong potential for discovering additional targets within the project area. The company has initiated a UAV magnetic geophysical survey over the entire 25,000 hectares of the Storjuktan Project, with 35% of the survey completed as of September 9, 2024. The survey aims to map the underlying geology and structural architecture in detail, which is crucial for understanding the mineralization potential of the area. The survey is expected to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting. In addition to the geophysical survey, First Nordic has collected approximately 6,500 B-Horizon glacial till samples, representing 30% of the planned coverage area for 2024. This high-density sampling is designed to identify anomalous areas that may indicate mineralization. The project encompasses seven contiguous licenses covering 30,000 hectares, all situated within a structural corridor known for gold mineralization. The geology of the Gold Line belt, where Storjuktan is located, consists of an inverted volcano-sedimentary sequence with granitic intrusions. Gold mineralization in the area is associated with specific alteration assemblages and sulphide minerals. The ongoing exploration efforts at Storjuktan are part of a broader strategy to advance multiple high-priority projects on the Gold Line belt, positioning First Nordic for potential discoveries in the near future.
