University of Bath Expands Book Donation Scheme to Kenya

The University of Bath has announced the extension of its Readcycle Bath project, which facilitates the donation of textbooks to universities in Africa. Initially focused on Nigeria, the initiative will now include universities in Kenya, marking a significant expansion of the program. Dr. Teslim Bukoye, a key figure in the project, expressed hopes for further growth, aiming to reach educational institutions across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. The latest phase of the project will see surplus management and engineering textbooks sent to Moi University in Kenya. Dr. Bukoye emphasized the importance of these donations, stating that they will enhance the curriculum, support research efforts, and contribute to the intellectual development of both students and faculty. The inception of Readcycle Bath stemmed from a simple act of clearing out old office materials, where Dr. Bukoye and his colleagues discovered unused textbooks. Since then, the project has successfully shipped hundreds of textbooks to Nigeria, and Dr. Bukoye is optimistic about the potential for further contributions.
