Miami man arrested for Brickell burglary spree

A 24-year-old man named Eric Gerod Robinson was arrested by Miami Police for a series of burglaries that occurred in Brickell over a span of several days. The police received multiple reports from residents at an apartment building located at 79 SW 12th St. between Monday and Wednesday, prompting an investigation. Surveillance footage revealed Robinson testing door handles and entering unlocked apartments to steal various items, including cash, jewelry, and electronics. Robinson's criminal activities were not limited to this recent spree; he had previously visited the same apartment building months earlier. On May 11, he befriended a resident and managed to steal a gold chain worth approximately $1,500 after asking to see it. This initial encounter set the stage for his subsequent burglaries, as he returned to the building on Monday night to break into two apartments, stealing a purse and a bookbag valued at $500, along with several credit and debit cards. The following night, Robinson escalated his crimes, breaking into five more apartments and stealing items worth over $2,700, including Apple Watches and a Playstation 5. He also took $400 in cash during this burglary. On Wednesday night, he continued his spree by breaking into three additional apartments, stealing more watches, credit cards, and $300 in cash. Robinson's arrest came after detectives and patrol officers conducted a thorough investigation, leading to his apprehension. The string of burglaries highlights the ongoing issue of property crime in urban areas and raises concerns about security measures in residential buildings.
