Jack Doohan to Join Alpine F1 Team in 2025

— Alpine has announced the promotion of Jack Doohan to a full-time Formula 1 driver for the upcoming season, marking his debut alongside Pierre Gasly. The 21-year-old Australian will take over the seat from Esteban Ocon, who is set to leave the team after a challenging year. Currently, Alpine sits eighth in the constructors’ standings as they head into the Dutch Grand Prix. Doohan, the son of former motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, previously finished third in the Formula 2 championship last year and has served as Alpine's reserve driver throughout 2024. Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Doohan stated, “I am very grateful for the trust and belief by the team’s senior management,” emphasizing his commitment to prepare thoroughly for the transition. Alpine has faced significant struggles in the current F1 season, prompting multiple changes within its management and technical teams. Notably, Flavio Briatore, who previously led the team during its successful years in the 1990s and 2000s, has returned in an advisory capacity.
