Great grandson approves pet bus tour, sparking debate over public spaces!

In Hong Kong, a new initiative promoting the inclusion of pets in public spaces was recently established with the launch of a Pet Bus Tour by transportation company KMB. This innovative service received a seal of approval from William Louey, a descendant of KMB's founder, who actively participated in the tour to gather feedback from passengers. During the experience, he engaged with other pet owners, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere as they exchanged pet care tips. Louey emphasized the positive social interactions that a pet-friendly environment enables, contrasting it with the typical bus experience where passengers remain glued to their screens. This initiative encourages bonding among pet owners and creates a sense of belonging within the community. Following its launch in October, the Pet Bus Tour quickly became a success, as many passengers expressed excitement about adding new routes and pick-up points. Louey, an ardent animal lover, envisions an enriched, close-knit society in Hong Kong through the power of pets, aiming to strengthen local ties. His commitment to fostering such community relations is in line with the broader goals of KMB, which operates a fleet of more than 3,900 buses that transport over 2.8 million passengers daily. With its ongoing transition to renewable energy, including the introduction of electric double-decker buses, KMB aims to serve the population more sustainably. Louey is also known for founding the William SD Louey Educational Foundation in 1995, dedicated to aiding talented Asian youth in pursuing educational opportunities abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom and the USA. To date, over 60 scholars have received funding through this program, exemplifying Louey's dedication to supporting young people and contributing to societal growth.
