On September 24, Pune City Police registered a case under the POCSO Act after a 16-year-old girl reported being raped by four individuals she met on social media. The incident came to light when the girl spoke to a college counsellor about her experiences. Following this, the college authorities referred the case to the police. Two adults, identified as Om Gholap and Swapnil Devkar, both 20 years old, were arrested, while two minors, aged 16, were detained. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a protest outside Wadia College, demanding justice for the victim and accountability from the college management, which they accused of attempting to suppress the case. ABVP representatives claimed that the college authorities intimidated the victim's family and delayed the filing of the FIR. Local political leaders criticized the college for not acting promptly to ensure the victim's safety and for trying to conceal the incident. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need for a thorough and fair inquiry into the allegations and the actions of the college authorities.
