- The strike took place in Wadi al-Kfour, Nabatieh province, amidst ongoing tensions between Hezbollah and Israeli military.
- The incident marks one of the deadliest attacks in Lebanon since the conflict escalated in October.
An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in the deaths of at least 10 Syrian nationals, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry. The strike, which occurred in Wadi al-Kfour in Nabatieh province, is one of the deadliest since hostilities escalated between the Israeli military and Hezbollah following the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7. Five additional individuals were reported wounded, with two in critical condition. The Israeli military claimed the strike targeted a Hezbollah weapons depot, but local witnesses described the victims as factory workers who were in their housing at the time. The uncle of three victims, Hussein Shahoud, disputed the military's claims, asserting that the materials in the area were for construction purposes and not related to military activity. The incident has raised concerns about civilian casualties, as all reported victims were identified as non-combatants. Hezbollah typically issues death notices for its members, but none were reported in this case. Earlier on the same day, two Israeli soldiers were injured by a strike from Lebanon, further escalating tensions. Both Tehran and Hezbollah have threatened retaliation, although no immediate strikes have been launched as diplomatic efforts and cease-fire talks in Qatar continue. Since the onset of the conflict, over 500 individuals have died from Israeli strikes, including approximately 100 civilians, while northern Israel has seen casualties among both soldiers and civilians due to retaliatory strikes from Lebanon.
