Fulham to Sign Sander Berge
- Fulham is close to signing Burnley midfielder Sander Berge for £20 million plus add-ons.
- Berge will become Fulham's fourth signing of the summer.
- He will bolster Marco Silva's midfield options.
Fulham FC is on the verge of finalizing the acquisition of Burnley midfielder Sander Berge for a total fee of £25 million, which includes £20 million upfront and an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. The 26-year-old Norwegian, along with his agent Morten Wivestad, is scheduled to travel to London for a medical examination on Tuesday, paving the way for his move to Craven Cottage. This transfer would mark Fulham's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Ryan Sessegnon, Jorge Cuenca, and Emile Smith Rowe. Berge's addition is expected to enhance manager Marco Silva's midfield options, particularly after the departures of Willian, whose contract has expired, and João Palhinha, who has transferred to Bayern Munich. The midfielder, who has earned 46 caps for Norway, was previously considered by Manchester United as a potential target to strengthen their defensive midfield, indicating his value in the current transfer market. The 26-year-old has not featured in Burnley’s first two Championship matches under new head coach Scott Parker, who took over from Vincent Kompany earlier this summer. Last season, Berge made 37 appearances for Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League. He joined Burnley from Sheffield United last summer, signing a four-year contract. Fulham began their Premier League campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester United and will look to bounce back in their upcoming match against newly-promoted Leicester City on Saturday.
