In Taipei, Taiwan, the Asia-Pacific Power Summit was held from May 26 to May 28, 2025, bringing together industry experts and representatives from major utility companies across the region to discuss critical challenges associated with energy transformation. Organized by the Taiwan Smart Grid Industry Association, the summit also received sponsorship from state-run Taiwan Power Co., Taiwan Institute of Economics Research, and network solution provider MOXA Inc. The event was a response to the global push for achieving net-zero emissions and carbon neutrality, which has made energy transformation a vital policy focus for governments worldwide. During the summit's opening day, attendees participated in the Utility Day session, where utility companies from Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Australia exchanged their experiences and strategies on creating stable, smart, and resilient power grids. Following these discussions, there was a site visit to the Central Dispatch Control Center of Taipower, showcasing the company's operational processes and technological advancements. The second day of the event featured presentations from invited speakers on their respective net-zero policies, including Taiwan's Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050, alongside successful implementation case studies. On the final day, discussions revolved around cutting-edge technologies, next-generation solutions, and demonstrations of innovative applications in power systems. This comprehensive agenda underscored the importance of collaboration among industry stakeholders to enhance power system resilience and ensure a stable power supply. Taipower's Vice President Wu Chin-chung emphasized the company’s exceptional technological prowess, noting that Taipower ranked second on the Smart Grid Index compiled by Singapore Power Ltd. from 2022 to 2024. As nations focus on integrating information and communications technologies into their energy frameworks, the summit aimed not only to facilitate the exchange of ideas but also to help countries in the Asia-Pacific region navigate their national net-zero and energy transformation objectives. This initiative showcases a collective effort to tackle the urgent challenges faced in transforming energy systems within a framework of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
