Story

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A tragic accident early Monday morning in Montgomery County resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy and left several others injured. The teenager was ejected from a stolen Hyundai Elantra during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals trapped in the same vehicle were rushed to Jefferson Einstein Medical Center for treatment. The crash occurred around 5 a.m. when the Hyundai Elantra, which had been reported stolen to Philadelphia police just two days prior, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Stenton Avenue and East Evergreen Avenue. It collided with an Infiniti QX80 traveling north on Stenton Avenue. The driver of the Infiniti was also trapped in the wreckage and was subsequently transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital. Authorities from the Springfield Township Police Department are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that the stolen vehicle's failure to obey traffic signals was a significant factor in the incident. Police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation. Those with details are encouraged to contact the Springfield Township Police Department at 215-836-1601.
