Car stolen from owner in Broward County while pumping tire

On August 31, a vehicle theft occurred in Broward County while the owner was engaged in inflating a tire. The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m. at 8000 Hampton Boulevard in the North Lauderdale district. The victim was focused on his 2020 Black Chevy Equinox when a man approached him, inquiring about his actions. After a brief interaction, the victim resumed monitoring the air pressure in his tire. Unexpectedly, the victim heard a car door open and close, prompting him to look up and discover the same man he had just spoken with now seated in the driver's seat of his vehicle. The suspect then drove away in the Equinox, leaving the victim stunned and without his car. The Broward Sheriff's Office responded to the incident and has since released surveillance footage capturing both the interaction between the victim and the suspect, as well as the suspect's escape in the stolen vehicle. The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red letters and red and black shorts, which may aid in identifying him.
