Colorado City Shuts Down Migrant Housing

The presence of the Tren de Aragua gang in Aurora has led to significant disruptions for local property owners and tenants, according to statements from affected investors and residents. A representative from CBZ Management, a Florida-based landlord, expressed that the gang's takeover of properties has made it impossible for them to maintain a presence in the area. Tenants like Irany Perez voiced their frustrations, emphasizing their desire to avoid shelters and asserting their human rights amid the turmoil. Former ICE officer John Fabbricatore, now a congressional candidate, criticized Denver's sanctuary laws, claiming they have inadvertently fostered an environment conducive to migrant crime. He noted that many residents in affected apartment complexes are undocumented immigrants, making them vulnerable to extortion by gangs. Fabbricatore argued that the lack of deterrents has emboldened these criminal elements, as the majority of tenants are too afraid to report crimes. The issue of hidden crime among migrant communities is often overlooked, according to Fabbricatore, who pointed out that pro-migration advocates frequently downplay the criminal activities of undocumented immigrants. He highlighted a trend in major cities like New York, Chicago, and Denver, where the media tends to obscure the nationalities of arrested individuals, instead labeling them as local residents. Fabbricatore acknowledged the challenges of changing public perception regarding illegal immigration, suggesting that it will take years to dismantle the narrative that opposing illegal immigration equates to racism.
