CM Eknath Shinde Calls for Justice in Badlapur Assault Case

In the wake of a sexual assault incident involving two girls at a reputed school in Badlapur, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has accused protestors of politicizing the issue. He claimed that some demonstrators were brought in from outside to participate in the rail roko, a protest that lasted nine hours. Shinde condemned the assault, stating that the accused has been arrested and action taken against the school management. He criticized opposition parties for allegedly abandoning ethical standards in their response to the incident. Shinde highlighted the government's commitment to women's safety, referencing a similar case from two months ago where a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, leading to a swift arrest and prosecution in a fast-track court. He expressed disapproval of the placards opposing the Ladki Bahin scheme, a government initiative aimed at women's welfare, suggesting that the protests were politically motivated rather than genuine expressions of public concern. In response to the protests, Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe visited Badlapur, emphasizing the need for expedited justice. She urged police to ensure that the accused do not receive bail and called for immediate psychological support for the victims. Gorhe also stressed the importance of community involvement, encouraging parents, teachers, and educational organizations to play a proactive role in safeguarding students. The protests have drawn significant attention, with opposition parties demanding accountability from the government and announcing a statewide strike in solidarity with the victims.
