The veterinary team decided on this procedure after observing discomfort and cloudiness in the dog's eye, along with abnormal tissue. Details shared by the university's president, Mark A Welsh III, revealed that the surgery went well, and Reveille was discharged and resting comfortably post-operation. Despite her current hiatus from public engagements, it was reported that she is expected to return to her usual activities, such as attending classes and supporting the Aggies, sometime in the fall. The Reveille mascot tradition began in 1931 when cadets discovered an injured dog and brought her to campus, where she became an enduring symbol of school spirit. Reveille X succeeded the previous mascot in 2021 and is often moved around the campus using a custom golf cart known as 'Rev Force One.'
