UFO sightings surge in Essex over five years

A Freedom of Information request to Essex Police revealed a variety of unusual incidents recorded in their STORM incident system, where sightings were officially categorized as 'UFO'. The reports span various locations, including Saffron Walden, Colchester, and Ongar, showcasing a diverse range of experiences reported by local residents. One notable sighting involved an informant in Ongar who described witnessing a convoy of 30 to 40 lights moving in unison across the sky. The lights were reported to be traveling at the same speed and in a straight line, raising questions about their origin, as no conventional aircraft were observed in the area. This incident highlights the peculiar nature of the sightings that have captivated the local community. In another instance, a resident in Rochford reported seeing a strange metallic structure resembling a long bird, which vanished shortly after being spotted. The informant expressed disbelief that it could be a bird, given the unusual circumstances and the time of night. Such accounts contribute to the growing intrigue surrounding these sightings. Even aviation professionals have encountered unexplained phenomena, as a Ryanair pilot reported a black object passing alarmingly close to their aircraft at 4,000 feet. Despite the possibility of it being a drone, the airport's monitoring equipment failed to detect it.
