- The commentator had to explain herself after the incident.
A golf commentator has publicly apologized after an incident during a live broadcast of the women's Olympic tournament in Paris last week. The commentator, Morgan Pressel, was reacting to a remarkable shot by golfer Jennifer Henderson on the par-five 14th hole at Le Golf National. Henderson's successful approach set up an eagle opportunity, prompting an enthusiastic response from Pressel. In her excitement, Pressel appeared to use inappropriate language, saying, "Yeah, let's give Brittany a little fist pump. She is f------ fired up." Following the broadcast, Pressel clarified her comments, stating, "I stumbled over my words and unfortunately it sounded as if I said something inappropriate. I am so sorry that it came across as such because I would never say that on the air in a broadcast." Despite the slip-up, the tournament concluded with New Zealand's Lydia Ko claiming the gold medal at 10-under par, while Germany's Esther Henseleit secured silver, finishing two shots behind. China's Lin Xiyu took home the bronze with a score of seven-under par. Pressel expressed her enjoyment of the event, stating her pride in being part of the NBC Olympics team, which worked diligently to cover the tournament in Paris. She reflected on her experience, saying, "It was one of the most amazing cities in the world!" Pressel, a former LPGA Tour player, has a notable career, including a major victory in 2007.
