Story

Sky Sports+ is poised to enhance its coverage of the English Football League (EFL) following its successful launch during the 2024/25 season. The channel made headlines by streaming every EFL fixture on the opening weekend, a first in broadcasting history. However, moving forward, not every match will be aired live. The new service aims to provide extensive coverage of the Championship, League One, and League Two, with a commitment to broadcast 1,059 EFL fixtures throughout the season at no extra cost to subscribers. The collaboration between Sky Sports and the EFL is set to last for five years, concluding at the end of the 2028/29 season. While Sky Sports+ will not air every game, it will feature select matches on opening and closing weekends, as well as during midweek slots. On most weekends, viewers can expect seven additional EFL matches on Saturday afternoons and one on Sunday, while the traditional 3pm blackout remains in effect to encourage in-person attendance. This weekend's lineup includes key matchups such as Bromley vs AFC Wimbledon and Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday, which will be broadcast at noon on Sunday. Fans can access these games through Sky TV, NOW, and the Sky Sports App, ensuring they can follow their teams easily. In addition to EFL coverage, Sky Sports+ will also showcase a variety of other sports, including rugby, golf, and tennis. The channel's new broadcasting deal, valued at £895 million plus £40 million in marketing benefits, will significantly increase EFL coverage compared to previous years.
